1st half of Throne of Glass Series Review!

Review of 1st half of Throne of Glass Series

I have recently started the Throne of Glass series (on my TBR list in a previous post!!), but unfortunately the books are very long (500 - 700 pages) so I have only made it through Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, and part of Heir of Fire. Therefore, this will only be a review of the first half of the series.

Throne of glass is a fictional Series set in a fantasy continent Erilea, which has been taken over by the evil king of the empire Adarlan. In all areas of Erilea, magic has mysteriously disappereed. The first book in the series, Throne of Glass, shows the main character Celeana Sardoneth, an assasin, competing in a competition for the king. The competition is focused on finding the “Kings champion” or an assassin that will do the king’s bidding and take out enemies. SPOILERSSSSSSS  Celeana wins the competition and begins to work for the king, but — in the books following the first — she finds out many dark secrets about the king, Adarlan, her family, and the lack of magic in the continent. SPOILER OVER

So far, I am really enjoying these books. This series is written by my favorite author, Sarah J. Maas, who also wrote the ACOTAR series (one of my all time favorites). Both books are in a fae setting with magical powers. However, the plot between the two series are very different. ACOTAR perceives the fae world as something that lives alongside the human world, while Throne of Glass shows the fae world as the only location possibility in the the setting. ACOTAR is also a romance centered book, while Throne of Glass focuses more on the fantasy story and the main character’s self growth. I would recommend Throne of Glass to any readers who enjoy fantasy with less romance, a strong female main character, struggles with mental health/confidence, and magic. I will definitely continue to read this series, so check back to see my final thoughts once I finish the next 5 books…

Thanks for reading!
