Event Horizon: Dark Descent
Hello all,
Sorry for the late post, but the book I've been working on is surprisingly long and hard to get through. Instead of doing a list of books I want to read or complaining about my long book for four paragraphs, I figured I could find a quick interesting read, and I feel that I was well rewarded.
Event Horizon: Dark Descent is actually a prequel to Event Horizon (1997 film) that follows a government group who have just figured out how to teleport, go light speed, or create a wormhole. I'm not entirely sure. The head scientist has been grieving the death of his wife but continues to work. He achieves breakthrough after breakthrough all because of the visits from his wife in his dream. Eventually the space shuttle is ready and the crew sets off. Every crew member but one is running from something whether it be cancer, the death of a loved one or an abusive relationship. The crew engages the fancy machinery and gets going only to come out the other side to be in Hell. Paimon, one of the kings of Hell, has tricked the head scientist through his dreams into creating a way into Hell. Paimon appears on board the vessel and uses the crews fears and memories against them as he attempts to get to Earth.
I did some more research because I thought I had heard the name Paimon before and it turns out that he appears in a couple other books/movies like Hereditary. Paimon is the blind spirit/king of hell and is one of lucifers most loyal. Most texts describe Paimon as having a handsome face, riding a camel of sorts and always having loud music of trumpets and cymbals. I personally think that Event Horizon portrays Paimon in a better manner as he is terrifying, playful, and particularly gruesome.
Just an end note: this comic does have some minor nudity and severe gore, but it's hard to find a good horror comic without. Compared to Gannibal(see last post) Event Horizon has more gore but less explicit content.
Thanks for reading!

I get why it took you so long-- this seems like a really complex book. I looked it up and immediately saw what you meant by severe gore, but the art is pretty!
